Description of work

World Eaters

The two large quadrangular-shaped material encrustations, in ocher and black, characterize, at first visual impact, the imprinting of the work. These evoke something similar to the presence of “infrastructural settlements” present on some unknown surface, detected by satellite-type photographic mapping, in an aerial perspective.
The recurrence of the circle, in white, intersected by as many straight lines of the same color and stubbornly repeated throughout the canvas, evokes a sense of roundness. A sense of “planetary” sphericity, it would seem. The circle is also flanked by the quadrangular shape, equally widespread in the body of the work and subject to the same chromatic treatment and the same linear intersection.
Based on these observations, the picture can only arouse the idea of “space exploration”.
A sort of frenetic vector dynamism. Some kind of galactic vitality, very distant and completely occult.
However, more than a work with a cosmic theme, “World Eaters” presents itself to our eyes and to our perception as the epidermal result of a kind of extreme tribal rite. Like the tortured skin of some animal subjected to who knows what alchemical procedure. This is due to the blue ink writings scattered everywhere. They look like volumetric, raised scars.
A sort of indecipherable inscription appears on the lower rib: some “literary” and symbolic recapitulation of what was previously pictorially exposed.
World Eaters” is a cryptic work. An emblematic work with a strong impact.
The cosmological theme is actually present, implicitly, in several works of this author (this is because the artist’s complete work is literally imbued with symbolism and allegory).
However, never so directly as in this specific case.
